Embracing Innovation

One of the things I love most about the construction and design business – and what’s kept me in it for nearly twenty-five years – is the constant quest to fuse groundbreaking advances with time-honored traditions. Our customers expect the best: durable, premium-quality materials with plenty of eco-friendly options in the mix. And because I love a challenge (Victoria can tell many stories that involve me scaling mountains in Switzerland not meant for human occupation), I thrive on delivering above and beyond their expectations.

I’m very fortunate to work with a core team that shares my passion for pioneering. And right now, the market is full of brilliant new building products. But often times you find yourself working with craftsmen who insist upon using only materials that they believe to be tried-and-true.

And, of course, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with tried-and-true…until it becomes stagnant and stale.

Here are just a few of my favourite cutting-edge materials that have won raves from both our clients and contractors:

GigaCrete – This product has been tremendous in terms of helping C&C make good on our pledge to “walk the talk” when it comes to going green. Unlike regular concrete (which contains carbon dioxide-producing cement and damages topsoil), GigaCrete is made with non-toxic, non-combustible materials that provide strength and sturdiness without the negative impact on our environment.

Wedi Board – When you’re building, what goes on within the unseen inner structure is just as important as the outer beauty of the finished project. Wedi Board is absolutely fantastic for use in bathrooms, showers, floors, or anywhere that needs infallible waterproof material. It’s also entirely weatherproof and very lightweight, yet rigid enough that it won’t warp.

Post-Tensioned (PT) Slabs – Extremely high-strength tensioned steel strands keep these types of slabs compressed, which gives not only an efficient structure, but minimises material usage, as well. And while Arizona isn’t exactly known for massive earthquakes, PT slabs offer extra protection during seismic shifts of any degree.

Spray Foam Insulation – I have found that this is far superior to other types of insulation. Because of its expansive nature, spray foam forms an extra-tight seal on all the nooks and crannies in walls, floors and ceiling spaces that would’ve otherwise been left exposed. This results in quite impressive energy expense savings for both families and businesses.

With 2019 in full swing, the C&C team remains committed to being industry innovators. Constantly seeking out superior methods and materials that benefit both our projects and the planet is a never-ending journey for us. Is it always easy? Not at all. But we wouldn’t have it any other way.
